Role Of Environmental Site Assessment Phase 2

When the report of Environmental site assessment phase 1 suggests some presence of contamination, A phase 2 is carried out. 
The phase 2 is an invasive procedure. It includes sampling of surface water, soil and sediment. 
Other than these, In environmental site assessment phase 2, above and underground storage tank content testing, Asbestos containing material sampling, Poly-chlorinated Biphenyls identification and sampling are also done. So It is very important to carried out in suspected lands and properties.

What Samples Are Taken In ESA Phase 2?

Environmental site assessment phase 2 is an invasive procedure. It is not done as regular procedure. It is performed only when phase 1 report is suspected.
In Phase 2 Environmental site assessment following sampling are done-

• Sediment
• Ground Water
• Surface Water
• Surface soil
• Subsurface soil
• Soil Vapour

These all are done for specific information regarding the subject property and land.

What Is ACBM?

There is many sources of contamination in our land or property. Asbestos, Lead, Radon are very common and obviously very harmful for our health and property.
ACBM means Asbestos and asbestors containing building materials. This is the most common source of contamination. In Environmental site assessment phase 1, ACBM is the main thing that is assess in any land or property. It is done by simple visual inspection of the land or property.

Purposes Of Environmental Site Assessment

Environmental site assessment phase 1 is the simple easiest method to assess the environmental contamination of any land or property. In Phase 1 Environmental site assessment, Visual inspection is done for the purposes of-

1. Search for asbestos, Lead-based paints, Debris flow and earthquake hazards. 
2. Threatened and endangered species in sites.
3. Detection of lead in drinking water.
4. Assessment of mercury lead contamination in sites. 

All these are done to asses the contamination or potential risk of contamination in any land or property.
